Superstar Interviews - Tony Sly |
|
In this interivew short, we
get to learn more about one of IPW's most extreme and innovative
members, Tony Sly. Let's take a closer look at the behemoth that he is,
including why he ditched Flav, a shot at the IPW Heavyweight Title,
and a possible reincarnation of the InHumane Society?! Davegoheel: Hey Tony. We’re kicking things off with some title talk. You recently lost the IPW Extreme Title. What happened? Tony Sly: Extreme Title matches take a toll on your body and I was pretty banged up going into that match. Project Matthew capitalized on that and got the best of me that night. Davegoheel: You planning on recapturing that prestigious Extreme title again? I mean, a guy like you is always looking for some kind of gold, right? Tony Sly: I had a good run as the Extreme Champion but since Day 1 my primary goal has been to be IPW Heavyweight Champion. I have what it takes to win that title. I also have what it takes to beat AJ Smooth. I proved it before and will do it again…because I can! Davegoheel: There’s no question about that. I mean, really, that guy is a slime ball. He cheats in every match. Have you ever thought of pursuing the tag team straps along with the Heavyweight Title? Tony Sly: Possibly, I would need the right partner, preferably a young high flyer with some spunk, namely Sparrow. He has a lot of energy, potential, and some tight moves to go along with it all. Oh, yeah, and I’m pretty sure he listens to at least some punk rock. <>Davegoheel: A lot of guys like Sparrow’s swagger, including IPW Heavyweight Champion, AJ Smooth. Did you ever think of ditching the fans and maybe bringing Sparrow with you? I’m sure that you three could make one hell of a trio. Maybe something like an Inhumane Society 2.0?Tony Sly: I go out there and be Tony Sly. The fans appreciate my intensity, innovation, and ability to such up arrogant tools like AJ Smooth. <>Davegoheel: Well, I think that’s something to respect. You also talked about innovation. You’re one of the most innovative guys in IPW. I mean, look at your finisher, the Grind King. That’s a move that has never been pulled out by anybody else before, to the best of my knowledge. Do you have any other new moves you are thinking of pulling out in the near future?Tony Sly: There are guys in IPW who are stronger and guys who are more acrobatic but “The Punk Rock Icon” may be the most innovative so don’t be surprised to see me introduce a new move or two in the near future. <>Davegoheel: Of course. I mean, you’re obviously not a pushover when it comes to strength or agility, but when you have guys like Johny Fitness and James Jeffries, it’s hard for anyone to compete in those areas. So, who you have your eyes on next? Project Matthew? AJ Smooth? Troy Peterson?!Tony Sly: I have AJ Smooth and his IPW Heavyweight Title in my cross-hairs, so I will beat whoever I need to be in order to get that belt around my waist. Davegoheel: I’m pretty sure that everyone is clawing towards that, including some new comers, particularly Nicky Free. What are your thoughts on The Man? Tony Sly: Nicky Free has a ton of potential. He is an impressive athlete that is brimming with charisma who will undoubtedly go far in this business. Davegoheel: The
same could
probably be said for yourself. Let’s wrap it up here with one final
question Tony Sly: I got sick of Flav’s broken promises. He was only holding me back. It was time to break away, be myself, and reach my potential. Davegoheel: Well, thanks for giving us a deeper look into the real Tony Sly. |
